Welcome to Grallagh Studios, Rathriland, Northern Ireland

Welcome to Grallagh Studios, a collection of sympathetically restored farm buildings at Grallagh House, Rathfriland.

Grallagh House was built by Captain Swan, after being granted the townland of Grallaghgreenan following the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. It had been a working farm with adjacent mill until the 1990s, lying unloved until purchased by the current owners in 2002. Colin & Claire Finley, originally practicing artists, sympathetically conserved & restored the house over a period of 3 years before addressing the outbuildings, converting them to artist’s studios. As with the house it was important to retain the overall integrity & functionality of the buildings as would be in keeping with an Irish farmhouse and outbuildings located in an ‘Area or Outstanding Natural Beauty’

This rural setting allows you to enjoy the creative environment whilst soaking up the tranquil surroundings – as cows graze in neighbouring fields and the local stable exercise their horses, all to the backdrop of the Mourne Mountains…..welcome to Grallagh.
